Between Faith and WorksHonduran Mennonite Church-Project MAMA
Project MAMA, Mujeres Amigas Miles Apart (Women Friends Miles Apart), as part of the Honduran Mennonite Church, works at the wholistic mission of the church: word and action as a witness to our faith in Jesus Christ. MAMA was born in 1987 as a fraternal relationship between Mennonite women in the Franconia Conferece (Pennsylvania, U.S.) and women of the Honduran Mennonite Church. These women were united in their mission to share the love of God by promoting, without discriminating against anyone, the development of families of limited resources. They sought this through programs that help give dignity to each person served. MAMA accompanies communities in their development process through formal and informal education, and strengthening of individual and community values. MAMA works in the departments of Cortés and Yoro, located in the northern part of Honduras. MAMA has its offices in the city of San Pedro Sula, Honduras. We have a team of women who work full-time as well as a team of volunteers in the communities who help us carry out our activities. Our Programs
Day by day we strive to offer our best in our development programs, especially for children and youth in rural areas and marginalized urban neighborhoods. Many of our programs are educational in nature, encouraging mothers and young people to seek a better quality of life. We offer our support through the following programs: Summary of ProgramsHow can you support this Project?
